Im a big fan of doing things “just because”. My back garden aquaponics system is entirely built out of the boredom of the pandemic leading me to binging random YouTube channels, and finding Rob Bob’s wonderful Backyard aquaponics videos.
Choosing to grow a peach tree aquaponically was also somewhat of a whim: I don’t even massively like peaches! I just figured if it was going to get super hot in the Poly tunnel (record so far this summer 49°C), I might was well grow something that thrives in the heat. Of course, whilst the peach tree does love the heat, the humidity next to the fish tank is way too high for it, and will likely cause me no end of trouble down the line.
But, for now at least, I’ve successfully grown one aquaponics peach, that was truly delicious. So, I’ll chalk this one up as a win!

Yorkshire-grown peaches, here we go!
